It is a challenge for deans of university-based business schools to integrate the business school within the rest of the university while differentiating the position of the business school brand amongst competition in the business school sector. Working with the grain of the academic institution and in partnership with central university administrators for mutual synergies during crises and everyday represents a tightrope for business school deans who want to sustain a degree of local autonomy.
